How to use ZipClose
Preparation
-
.1 Assess the Wound: For deep wounds, a subcutaneous suture operation may be required as per local clinical protocols or best practice guidance.
-
.2 Clean the Area: Ensure the skin around the wound is clean and dry. Make the edges of the wound as neat as possible.
Selection
-
1. Determine wound applicability: Determine whether this device is the most appropriate treatment to use. If you're unsure, seek guidance from a qualified health care professional.
-
2. Select the Appropriate Model: Choose the ZipClose model based on the wound size.
For longer wounds, use the large ZipClose unit. For shorter wounds or uneven wound edges, it is recommended to use the single ZipClose device.
Application
-
Remove from Package: Carefully take the ZipClose device out of its sterile packaging.
-
Remove Liners: Hold the three ends of the ZipClose device and gently remove the liners to expose the adhesive.
-
Position the Device: Place the fasteners over both sides of the wound, ensuring they cover the wound edges completely. Gently press the adhesive tape along the direction of the zip tail to secure it firmly on the skin. It is recommended to apply one pair of fasteners for every 2 cm of the wound length.
-
Secure the Closure: Holding the tail ends of the ZipClose device, gently tighten the fasteners to bring the wound edges together. Continue until the fasteners are securely locked in place.
-
Trim Excess Strap: Cut off any excess length of the zip strap once the fasteners are locked.

Post Application & Removal
1. Apply Secondary Dressing:
If required, cover the ZipClose device and the wound area with a suitable secondary dressing to protect the site.
2. Monitor the Wound:
Regularly observe the wound and change the dressing or ZipClose closure device as necessary to ensure proper healing.
3. Removal:
When the wound is healed, gently lift the adhesive pads to remove the fasteners from the skin.
